GLA:D® Program for Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis
Racecourse Road Family Health is a registered provider for the GLA:D® Australia program, with a certified physiotherapist available to support patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis.
GLA:D® stands for “Good Life with osteoArthritis in Denmark” and is an education and exercise program developed for people experiencing hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms. The program was introduced to Australia to help people better manage osteoarthritis through education, exercise, and ongoing support.
What Does the GLA:D® Program Include?
The GLA:D® Australia program may include:
- An initial appointment to explain the program and assess your current functional ability
- Two education sessions about osteoarthritis, treatment options, and self-management strategies
- Group exercise sessions twice a week for six weeks
- A 3-month review with your clinician to discuss progress and goals
- Follow-up questionnaires at registration, 3 months, and 12 months to help monitor outcomes
The program is designed to help patients improve joint confidence, strength, movement, and their ability to self-manage osteoarthritis symptoms.
Who May Benefit from GLA:D®?
GLA:D® Australia may be suitable for people experiencing hip or knee pain, or symptoms of osteoarthritis. Your clinician will assess your individual needs and discuss whether the program is appropriate for you.
You do not need a doctor’s referral to participate in GLA:D® Australia. However, some eligible patients may be able to use Medicare funding for assessments or related services where referral requirements are met. Private health claims should be discussed directly with your health insurer.
To learn more or book an appointment with our certified GLA:D® physiotherapist, please contact Racecourse Road Family Health on 03 9373 3333 or book online.
